Everywhere Normal went, people smiled and took pictures. They let him stand next to them even when he was drunk and a little gropey. They listened to what he had to say, and because he was educated and wealthy, and (probably) straight and (definitely) white, they usually nodded along. And when Normal was done talking, people applauded.

A lot.

Sometimes more than necessary.

Like, to the point where it became awkward, but also hard to stop because no one wants to be that asshole, you know?
